A matched pair of small peach and cream elephants, made to stand facing each other.
Each elephant is 4 inches long, 1.5 inches wide and 3 inches high, and weighs about 130 g. The pair together weighs about 260 g. That is small enough to sit on a study table beside a laptop, on a car dashboard, on an office desk, a bookshelf, a mandir shelf or a bedside table without crowding the space.
Both elephants are cast from resin blended with marble powder, then hand-painted and hand-polished. The blanket carries a fine textured pattern in terracotta and gold. The headpiece, eyes, tusks and anklets are painted by hand at this small scale, so no two pairs are exactly alike. A clear lacquer coat over the top helps hold the colour and the soft shine, and makes the pieces easy to dust.
Both pieces are the same size and the same finish, mirrored so they face one another. Set them on a level surface.
In Indian tradition, a pair of elephants with raised trunks is believed to welcome prosperity and good fortune. The small size and light weight also make the set easy to give in numbers, for return gifts, wedding favours, Diwali and housewarming hampers and corporate giveaways.
Care: wipe gently with a soft dry or damp cloth. Do not soak, and avoid harsh cleaners.
