A matched pair of black and gold elephants, made to stand facing each other with their trunks raised.
What it is made of
Both elephants are cast from resin blended with marble dust, then painted and polished by hand. It is not carved marble. Each has a deep black body under a raised gold lattice blanket, with a gold headpiece, gold anklets and fine gold trim on the face. Because the colour is put on by hand, small differences between pieces are normal. A clear lacquer coat helps hold the colour and the soft shine.
Size and weight
Each elephant is 10 inches long, 4 inches wide and 8 inches high, and weighs 1.75 kg. Together the pair weighs 3.5 kg. The solid cast body gives each piece a steady, planted feel.
Where to place them
Set them facing each other on an entrance table, a living room console, a TV unit, a hotel lobby counter or an office reception desk.
Tradition and gifting
In Indian tradition, a pair of elephants with raised trunks is believed to welcome prosperity and good fortune into a home. That is a cultural belief, not a promise of any result. It makes the set a natural choice for griha pravesh, Diwali, weddings, anniversaries and corporate gifting.
